Mothers are the backbone of Nigerian families. I want to say a big Happy Mother’s Day, and today, I decided to do something different and write on this topic that is entirely outside my niche!
Mothers are the ones who wake up early to prepare breakfast for their families, make sure everyone is dressed and ready for school or work, and ensure that the home is always clean and tidy. They are the ones who sacrifice their comfort and well-being to ensure that their children have everything they need.
Our mothers are strong, resilient, and selfless. They are the ones who hold the family together during tough times, providing emotional support and guidance. They are the ones who stay up late to help their children with homework and school projects, even if they are tired from a long day at work.
Mothers in Nigeria are also known for their amazing cooking skills. They can turn the simplest ingredients into a delicious meal that can feed an entire family. From jollof rice to egusi soup and pounded yam, Nigerian mothers have a way of making every meal unique and memorable.
Mothers Are Special
But it’s not just about the food and the chores. Nigerian mothers also play a crucial role in the moral upbringing of their children. They teach us the values of hard work, respect, and honesty, and instill in us a sense of responsibility and accountability.
They are the ones who shape our character and help us become better human beings.
On this Mother’s Day, I thank all the mothers out there. Thank you for your unwavering love and support. Thank you for your sacrifices and dedication, for all the good things you do for us daily. We may not always say it, but we appreciate you more than words express.
To all the mothers reading this, we wish you a happy Mother’s Day. May your day be filled with love, laughter, and joy. You deserve nothing but the best today and always.
And If You Have Lost Your Mum…
I know a few friends and acquaintances who have lost their mothers.
Losing a mother is one of the most challenging experiences that anyone can go through. The pain and sadness can be overwhelming, and finding the motivation to keep going can be challenging. If you have lost your mother, know that you are not alone. Many people have been in your shoes, and they have found a way to move forward.
The first thing to remember is that it’s okay to grieve. Losing a mother is a significant loss, and feeling sad and overwhelmed is natural. Take the time to mourn your loss, and don’t be afraid to seek support from family and friends. It’s important to remember that everyone grieves differently, so don’t feel you must follow any specific timeline or process.
See, I want you to know that your mother’s legacy lives on through you. Think about everything your mother taught you, the memories you shared, and the ways she influenced your life. She may not physically be with you anymore, but her love and impact will always be a part of you. Honor her memory by living your life to the fullest and making her proud.
You have the strength and resilience to get through it. Remember to take it one day at a time, honor your mother’s memory, and prioritize self-care. With time and support, you can find a way to heal and move forward!
