A solution is a response to a problem. In the same vein, your products must be a response to the needs and desires of a set of people. If you do not approach selling from this perspective, you will certainly not stand out.

Selling a product means you’ve taken the time to do market research. If you don’t know who you’re selling to, it doesn’t really matter what you’re selling.

What should your Market Research entail? Your market research (which will help you make the best decision on what to sell) should involve:

  • A study of the particular need or desire of your customers-to-be. How can you help 1000 people solve a common problem and charge each of them for $100? You make $100,000. They are happy. You are fulfilled.
  • A study of how you can show people what’s in it for them. Their major concern is getting their needs met. When you do this, you will hit gold.
  • Find out where your ideal customers are.
  • Find out how your ideal customers talk. Nobody feels comfortable around strangers as much as you would feel when someone talks like you.

Basically, choosing what to sell online is the most underestimated part of making big sales online, as it will determine the demand for your product, price and profitability, market competition, sales, and marketing. It’s also one of the hardest decisions you will make.

You cannot sell everything.

Not everybody needs you. In fact, 3-5 High ticket clients will give you the money and peace of mind that a thousand clients may not bring. All these must be taken into careful consideration.

You need to know what suppliers get approached by prospective sellers like you, and thus you should know what they would want in a potential customer/business relationship, and you should also know what you want from the supplier. Your goal here is to be able to source your products for less than what you’ll eventually sell them for. Every little discount you can get will count towards your profits — and it can really add up!

Now is the time to dive into the waters. Every country has different requirements when it comes to setting up a business, so it’s always a good idea to speak to an accountant or lawyer to get professional advice. But what you need to do now is to get started. Get a cheap domain name whenever you want, too.

However, to make sure you’re getting started on the right foot, there are processes you need to follow:

  • Choose a business name
  • Register your business
  • Have your own business website
