What is SEO?
SEO is an acronym for Search Engine Optimization.
Like I explained in the video above, SEO is all about how you can optimize your blog, or online store, so that people that do not know about you can easily find your content online.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) refers to the practice of enhancing your website’s visibility on search engines like Google, Microsoft Bing, and others, when people search for:
- The Products that you offer.
- Services that you provide.
- Information on subjects where you have experience.
By improving the visibility of your web pages in search results, you increase the likelihood of being discovered and clicked on. The ultimate objective of SEO is to draw in website visitors who can potentially become your customers, clients, or loyal audience.
How SEO Works – Robots and Spiders
Search engines, like Google and Bing, employ crawlers, also known as spiders or bots, to collect data about all the content available on the internet.
The crawler begins from a known web page and follows internal links to other pages within the same site and external links to other websites.
The information on those pages, together with the context of the links it visits, enables the crawler to understand the subject matter of each page and how it relates to all the other pages contained in the search engine’s colossal database, known as an index.
When a user inputs a query into the search box, the search engine uses intricate algorithms to extract the most detailed and helpful list of results for that query. These organic results can include web pages containing text, news articles, images, videos, local business listings, and other more specific types of content.
