Anxiety Solution? How to Boost Your Self-Confidence Posted on May 21, 2024May 21, 2024 By Tomiwa Akanbi In a world where everything is constantly changing and every day brings new challenges, it’s not uncommon to feel a bit overwhelmed or anxious at times. But when these feelings start to interfere with your daily life, it’s important to take steps to boost your self-confidence and regain control. Here’s a simple guide to help you on this journey! Anxiety Solution 1: Embrace Your Strengths First and foremost, I need you to understand that you are a unique person, and that’s your superpower. There’s no one else ALIVE like you, and that’s something to celebrate! Embrace your quirks, your strengths, and even your weaknesses. They all make up the incredible person that you are. By doing this, you will focus on what you can control and focus your strengths on them. Anxiety Solution 2: Set Realistic Goals! Setting realistic goals is an excellent strategy for enhancing your self-confidence. The critical step is setting realistic and achievable goals that gradually increase in difficulty. By starting small and slowly raising the bar step by step, each success not only becomes more possible but also more rewarding as you progress. Each time you achieve a goal, no matter its size, it provides a significant boost to your confidence. This will help you establish a positive feedback loop, where each success fuels the drive for the next. Over time, this can lead to substantial improvements not just in self-confidence but also in overall personal growth and satisfaction. Celebrating these small victories can reinforce your belief in your abilities and motivate you to tackle more challenging tasks. Anxiety Solution 3: Practice Self Care See, taking care of your physical and mental well-being is something you need to do as much as possible. Whether it’s a relaxing bath, a good book, or a walk in the park, find what makes you feel good and do it regularly. Self-care is not selfish; it’s essential. Anxiety Solution 4: Accept Compliments Most times, we deflect compliments out of modesty or disbelief in our abilities. You need to start accepting compliments graciously. Say “thank you” and let the positive words people tell you sink in. It’s a recognition of your worth, and it helps you to be more confident. Anxiety Solution 5: Surround Yourself With Positivity The company you keep will have a significant impact on your self-esteem. You should surround yourself with people who uplift you and believe in you. Positive reinforcement from others can go a long way in boosting your self-confidence. If you notice a negative energy or that a tense atmosphere comes up EVERYTIME you are in a place, you should think twice and re-evaluate your company. Anxiety Solution 6: Remember Past Successes Whenever you’re feeling down, take a moment to reflect on your past successes. Some months back, I ran some ads that did not just ‘work’. I felt sad and as though I had lost my winning streak. But this particular solution helped me. I remembered the times when as Kabiyesi, I ran successful campaigns. Remembering the challenges you’ve overcome in the past can be a great reminder that you’re stronger than you think. Anxiety Solution 7: Seek Professional Help Sometimes, we need a little extra help, and that’s okay. If anxiety is seriously affecting your life, don’t hesitate to seek professional help. There’s strength in recognizing when you need support. Anxiety is not your friend Think of it this way. Your anxiety is just a one-sided storyteller. It narrates life from its singular perspective. “This will go wrong. That will never work out”. “This person secretly hates me”. “And because of this one singular detail, my life will go wrong in all respects and I won’t be able to handle it.” and so on, I could keep going Your feeling of anxiety doesn’t know anything for certain. It just assumes the worst about everything and everyone from a very limited perspective and tells you to behave as if what it was saying is true. Anxiety Can Be Tricky! Sometimes, your actions and vibes from these assumptions will make something negative happen, and then point to it and say: SEE? Evidence that this perspective is correct. But what about all the times that your anxiety was wrong? What about all the times you freaked out and stressed over nothing? What about the opposite perspective? What if it goes all right? What if it all works out? What if that person actually likes you but is just having a bad day? What if, even if things go wrong in this one aspect, you will be able to handle it just fine, and other things will work out and your life will actually turn out positively? If you’re noticing that anxiety is taking over, that’s a great indication that your assumptions are flawed and not based on the truth. And you’ve already seen the worst that can happen by keeping you stagnant. You’re hurting now and unhappy and feeling incredibly low, and yet, despite this, you’re still alive. Can God Help You Deal With It? If I left out this part of the article, I would not be sincere. Prayer has helped me 90% of the time when I was anxious. Trust me, it can help you too. God knows us better than we know ourselves. He knows what is making you anxious. Take a step of faith and tell Him to help you with anxiety!
